THOMAS HEGGEN 12/23/19 - 5/19/49 COD: Drowned in bathtub after overdose of drugs and alcohol. BURIAL: Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota Author of novel "Mister Roberts" also worked on the stage adaptation. Mister Roberts was made into a popular film starring Henry Fonda. Heggen is listed in the credits on the movie poster to the left. After the success of Mister Roberts Heggen was cursed with severe writer's block and was unable to follow its success. His death was ruled a probable suicide, but no note was left and his family vehemently denied that Heggen would take his own life. |
