SMITH STIMMEL

BURIAL:  Riverside Cemeterey, Fargo, North Dakota

One of Abraham Lincoln's White House Bodyguards.  After  the Civil War, Stimmel practiced law in Fargo, North Dakota.

"Our duties were to guard the front entrance to the White House grounds, and to act as an escort to the President, whenever he went out in his carriage or on horseback, as he often did during the summer, but not much during the winter months," - Smith Stimmel.
