There are very few rock groups whose songs I listen to particularly to hear the drummer.  Led Zeppelin is one.  John Bonham truly was the greatest rock drummer to ever live.  He had the metronomic sledgehammer backbeat for a heavy metal band, yet was able to feather-touch the cymbal for just the right mood.  Bonham's driving beat was the spine to most of the Zeppelin songs, but he was able to add flair to his fills, enough to be noticed without taking away from the unity of the song.  He is also one of the very few drummers who could entertain with an extended solo.  We've all sat through those interminable drum solos during concerts while the rest of the band changed outfits or took a break.  I have included here three videos that showcase Bonham's talent and his personality.  The first is of an interview he and Robert Plant did at the height of their popularity. The second displays his skills in my favorite Zep song Misty Mountain Hop. The final one is a drum solo from Moby Dick.  John Bonham was truly the baddest motherfucker to ever pick up drumsticks. - Todd
