German-born Karl Wallenda was the patriarch of the Wallenda family and founder of "The Great Wallendas" which would later become "The Flying Wallendas."  Karl fell to his death on March 22, 1978 while performing his high-wire act in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Helen Kreis was a sixteen-year old performer with the troupe who would eventually become Karl Wallenda's wife.

Richard Faughnan was married to Karl Wallenda's daughter Jenny.  On January 30th, 1962 Faughnan fell to his death when the Wallenda's famous seven-person pyramid collapsed.
 

 


 

Son of Karl Wallenda's brother Herman.  Schepp was also killed in the seven-person pyramid collapse in 1962.

 


 

Husband of Karl Wallenda's daughter Carla.  Guzman was killed in 1972 when he touched a live wire on the rigging.

 


 

Karl's sister-in-law, fell to her death April 18, 1963 in Omaha, NE while performing on the sway pole.

 


Karl's grandson, learned to walk the tightrope at the age of two or three, but his specialty was riding his motorcycle inside the "Globe of Death". He tested positive for HIV in 1990 after collapsing after a performance in Canada. After his death from AIDS, his mother, Carla, said she wanted his cause of death made public.

Karl Wallenda's brother was one of the original members of The Great Wallendas (later The Flying Wallendas.)  He is the father of Gunther Wallenda.  Herman was one of the survivors of the 1962 disaster.  Edith was Herman Wallendas second wife and performed with the group for a quarter century.  Their gravesite is to the right of the main Wallenda site.

Herman Wallenda's son by his first wife Lucy.  In the 1962 pyramind collapse, Gunther was the only member still standing.  He helped rescue the remaining three members who were still clinging to the wires.  Gunther's gravesite is just in front of Herman and Edith's.


Half brother of Karl Wallenda.  Performed for many years with the troupe including the seven-person pyramid.
