VICTIMS OF CHARLES STARKWEATHER |
ROBERT COLVERT Colvert was Starkweather's first victim. He was working as a gas station attendant and got on Starkweather's bad side when he refused to let him take something on credit. Starkweather returned early in the morning of December 1st, 1957 and eventually kidnapped Colvert and killed him with a shotgun blast to the head. Robert rests at Beaver Crossing Cemetery, Beaver Crossing, Nebraska. |
THE BARTLETTS Marion and Velda Barlett were Caril Ann Fugate's stepfather and mother. Charles Starkweather was not high on their list of potential suitors for their fourteen-year-old daughter. Starkweather arrived one day when Caril Ann was not home. He argued with the parents, and subsequently, shot them both to death. It had been almost six weeks since he first killed Robert Colvert, but the killings would now come fast and furious. After Caril arrived home, Starkweather bludgeoned, strangled, and stabbed Caril's two-year-old sister Betty Jean. The couple hid the bodies and remained at the house for another six days.
