COD:  Plane Crash

BURIAL:  Jacksonville Memory Gardens, Orange Park, Florida

Cassie Gaines was a back up singer for the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd.  She and two other singers were coined "The Honkettes" by lead singer Ronnie Van Zant.  Cassie, her brother Steve, and Van Zant were killed in a 1977 plane crash.  In the video below Cassie is the middle Honkette.  The video also includes her brother Steve on guitar.

Cassie's parents are buried with her.  Her mother, by the same name, died in an automobile accident less than two years after Cassie's death.  The accident occurred very near the Jacksonville Memory Gardens cemetery.
