On Bob Ross' PBS television show "The Joy of Painting" he was able to complete an entire painting in just half an hour.  A compliment to his accelerated art skills was the well known soothing timbre of his voice which was very much like an aural massage.  Bob's world was about gentleness and "happy little clouds."  However, Bob Ross' predecessor and mentor in the "speed painting" pantheon, William Alexander, has claimed to be the actual inventor of the process that Ross has portrayed as his own.  Bob Ross died of Lymphoma at the age of 52.
