BETTY SHABAZZ

May 28, 1936 to June 23, 1997

Widow of slain civil rights leader Malcolm X.  Betty continued on with her husband's work as a leading civil rights advocate.  She supported six children while earning a PHD.  Betty Shabazz died from burns she received in a fire that was started by her grandson who was living with her in her Yonkers apartment.
