Peter had extricated himself from his vehicle, but drowned as he went back into the water to rescue other trapped motorists.  He is survived by his wife and four children.

 

 

OAKWOOD CEMETERY, MORA, MINNESOTA

Jolly was one of the eighteen construction workers resurfacing the bridge when it collapsed.  He was operating a small, Bobcat loader at the time.  Greg is survived by his wife and three stepchilrden.

 

 

 

 

PLEASANT VALLEY CEMETERY, BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA

Sadiya had emigrated to the United States from Somalia in search of "a better life."  She was also five months pregnant at the time of the accident and leaves behind her husband Mohamed.

 

 

 

 

ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CEMETERY, LINO LAKES, MINNESOTA

Pat was employed as an exercise therapist at a local university and was headed home when he became stuck in traffic on the 35W bridge.  He leaves behind his wife and two young children.

 

 

 

LAKEWOOD CEMETERY, MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA

As with many of the victims that day, Scott was headed home from work when the bridge fell out from under him.  He was employed as an enrollment director at a local university.  He is survived by his wife.

 

 

 

ROSELAWN CEMETERY, ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA

Very proud of her heritage, Christine Sacorafas was very active in the Greek community.  She was on her way to teach a Greek dance class and had just phoned saying that she was running late.  Christine was never heard from again.  She is survived by her parents and a sister.

 

JULIA BLACKHAWK  (1975 - 2007)

BURIAL UNKNOWN

Julia was headed back from her cosmetology class ("something that was her life-long dream"), when she died in the disaster.  She leaves behind two young sons.

 

ARTEMIO TRINIDAD-MENA  (1978 - 2007)

BURIAL:  MEXICO

Artemio was still a Mexican citizen who was living in the United States in order to make a better life for his family.  He is survived by his wife and two-month old baby who were in the states with him and three more young children residing in Mexico.

 

SHERRY LOU ENGEBRETSON  (1946 - 2007)

INCARNATION CEMETERY, SHOREVIEW, MINNESOTA

Sherry worked at Thrivent Finanacial for Lutherans and also volunteered with The United Way.  She is survived by her husband and two daughters.

VERA PECK  (1957 - 2007)

BURIAL UNKNOWN

Vera immigrated to the United States from Cambodia in 1980.  She was riding with her son Richard Chit at the time of the disaster.  She is survived by two daughters.

RICHARD CHIT  (1987 - 2007)

BURIAL UNKNOWN

Richard was riding with his mother Vera Peck.  According to family members the two of them were inseparable and they take some solace in the fact that they were together at the time.

 

PAUL EICKSTADT  (1956 - 2007)

CREMATED, ASHES GIVEN TO FAMILY OR FRIEND

Paul was the driver of the tractor-trailer that burst into flames. In most photos his rig appears situated next to the school bus.  It was his first day on the job.  Paul is survived by a brother and two sisters.
